Wings Taking Flight and Wings English School are under the Wings Learning Community (WLC) umbrella. WLC is a dynamic learning community for EFL or ESL learners, providing services in both virtual and in-person settings.
Since 2010, taking advantage of experience and expertise, WLC has made a difference in people’s lives through their educational experiences.
WLC prides itself on going far beyond English language education. Families who have participated in the community have consistently commented that the education experience is often about “life lessons.”
Furthermore, and probably more important, is the members’ tremendous personal growth. Time and time again, both students and parents of students are astonished by the dramatic increase in the participants’ confidence and independence.
If you or your child are self-motivated and willing to take on a challenge and fly to your goals, then Wings Learning Community and Taking Flight is likely ideal.

Our team is highly educated and experienced in teaching English, and their passion for the English language is infectious in and out of the classroom. We look forward to guiding each new student on their very own English learning journey.
Sunha Bak is Academic Director and Partner of WLC. She is an accomplished English teacher with a lifelong passion in the area. She develops academic materials for WLC and monitors the progress of all students.
Sunha majored in Law for her bachelor’s degree (1995 to 1999), but decided to follow her true passion, which was to launch her own English language business. For several years after graduation, she taught English and wrote for several English publications. To further her credentials and learning, she pursued a teaching career, getting certificates in TESOL from Jeonnam National University. In 2008, she moved to her hometown, Gwangju, ROK, and started offering private English lessons in her home. She soon realized that designing curriculum and arranging programming was her true vocation.
William is Principal and Partner of WLC, with years of experience in teaching and program management. He wears many hats overseeing the operations of WLC, driven by his goal to deliver positive experiences of the language throughout the learning journey. William taught in the Coquitlam School District 43 from 1996 through 2000, teaching all grades from Kindergarten to 12. Subsequently, he led “Adventure English” classes in Squamish, B.C. for two months, which inspired him to offer similar English immersion camps in Kelowna. William has traveled extensively around the world. He majored in Human Nutrition and Education for his two bachelor’s degrees from the University of British Columbia (1995 & 1996, respectively). He received his TESOL diploma in 1998 and CELTA in 2004.
Danii received her bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences from Oxford University, England, in 2018.
Her love for science, nature, physiology, and teaching has pushed her to share this passion through private tutoring since 2010.
In 2018, Danii volunteered for the Osprey Translocation Project in Pool Harbour, UK, before moving to Kelowna, BC, later that same year.
Since living in Canada, she has worked in the aquarium industry and a STEM Education and Outreach Program with UBCO.
Wings Learning Community is pleased to add Danii to the team!
