Wings Learning Community

“Fly to your goals with WLC.”

Wings Taking Flight and Wings English School are under the Wings Learning Community (WLC) umbrella. WLC is a dynamic learning community for EFL or ESL learners, providing services in both virtual and in-person settings.

Since 2010, taking advantage of experience and expertise, WLC has made a difference in people’s lives through their educational experiences.

WLC prides itself on going far beyond English language education. Families who have participated in the community have consistently commented that the education experience is often about “life lessons.”

Furthermore, and probably more important, is the members’ tremendous personal growth. Time and time again, both students and parents of students are astonished by the dramatic increase in the participants’ confidence and independence.

If you or your child are self-motivated and willing to take on a challenge and fly to your goals, then Wings Learning Community and Taking Flight is likely ideal.

Welcome to Wings Learning Community (WLC)!

Wings Learning Community (WLC) is a learning academy for English language education. Established in 2010, we provide English classes, camps and support for kids aged 7-17, with services available in both virtual and in-person settings.

Effective and Engaging Learning

Our mission is to help students grow as life-long learners of the English language and be insightful, innovative and compassionate thinkers. Our approach to education focuses on three key processes:

  1. Gratitude           Focus on positivity
  2. Vision                  Realization of vivid visualizations
  3. Courage             Belief in one’s self to take risks
  4. Tenacity             Refusing to give up
  5. Community      Responsible and generous global leaders

At WLC, we believe learning English should be an exciting adventure that opens doors to new opportunities and unforgettable experiences. Since 2010, we’ve helped students aged 7 to 17 build strong language skills, explore English-speaking cultures, and prepare for successful studies in North America.

Whether you’re a parent looking for trusted guidance or a student ready to take the next step, we offer dynamic English classes, fun and immersive camps, and personalized consulting — all available online and in person.

Join our community and let your learning journey take flight — with confidence, support, and a lot of fun along the way!

Who We Are

WLC began in 2010 as a small English language center with a mission to empower learners through high-quality, personalized education. Over the years, we’ve grown into a trusted global education consulting agency, helping students and families navigate international learning opportunities.

What We Do

We specialize in arranging both short- and long-term educational programs in Canada and the United States. From language immersion camps to academic placements, we offer tailored experiences that promote growth, confidence, and cultural understanding.

Our Community

Rooted in strong values and a family-like culture, we continue to support and collaborate with the Korean community both locally and globally. Our commitment to care, connection, and success remains at the heart of everything we do.

Leadership of WLC

The leadership team at WLC combines deep expertise in English education with a genuine passion for helping learners thrive. With years of experience—and yes, a healthy appreciation for a well-placed pun—they bring both professionalism and personality to everything they do. Dedicated to creating meaningful learning experiences, they lead with vision, heart, and a firm belief in the power of language to change lives. Every student’s journey matters, and they’re here to guide it with care, insight, and maybe a few laughs along the way.

Sunha Bak

Academic Director & Partner | WLC

Sunha Bak is the Academic Director and a Partner at WLC, where she leads the development of academic content and oversees student progress with a commitment to excellence. With over two decades of experience in English education, Sunha brings both expertise and vision to the field.

She holds a bachelor’s degree in Law (1995–1999) but soon redirected her career to pursue her true passion—English education. After teaching and contributing to English-language publications, she earned TESOL certification from Jeonnam National University to deepen her professional foundation.

In 2008, Sunha returned to her hometown of Gwangju, South Korea, and began offering private English lessons. This small initiative grew into a respected English academy, built on personalized instruction, curriculum innovation, and a strong reputation within the local community.

Sunha’s long-term vision is to establish an international private school that nurtures globally minded learners and sets new standards in English education. She is actively exploring partnerships that align with this mission—collaborations that will bring together educational excellence, strategic growth, and shared values.

William Arkinstall

Principal & Partner | WLC

William Arkinstall serves as Principal and Partner at WLC, where he provides strategic leadership and oversees the development and execution of high-quality English language programs. With a strong background in education and program management, he is dedicated to delivering enriching and effective learning experiences that support student growth, academic success, and cultural engagement.

William began his teaching career in British Columbia’s Coquitlam School District 43, instructing students across all grade levels from Kindergarten through Grade 12 between 1996 and 2000. He later led innovative “Adventure English” programs in Squamish, B.C., which laid the foundation for the immersive language camps he would go on to establish in Kelowna. These programs integrate experiential learning with language development, providing students with a dynamic and supportive environment in which to thrive.

He holds dual bachelor’s degrees in Human Nutrition and Education from the University of British Columbia (1995, 1996), as well as a TESOL diploma (1998) and CELTA certification (2004). His academic training, combined with extensive international travel and cross-cultural experience, informs a global perspective that is central to WLC’s educational approach.

Under William’s leadership, WLC is committed to maintaining the highest standards of instruction and care, offering programs that families trust and that partners regard as exemplary in the field of language education.
